YMCA-Suddenlink Corporate Cup Challenge Cited as Among Nation’s Best

AMARILLO, Texas (May 13, 2013) – Suddenlink announced that its Amarillo, Texas, system has won a cable industry 2013 Beacon Award for its efforts on the Amarillo Family YMCA-Suddenlink Corporate Cup Challenge. Sponsored by the Association of Cable Communicators (ACC), the national Beacon Awards competition recognizes excellence in communications and public affairs throughout the cable industry.

The Amarillo program was named the nation’s top program in the Events and Observances competition for cable systems its size.  Winners of 2013 Beacon Awards were announced during a Beacon Awards dinner and ceremony May 9 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill as part of ACC’s annual conference.

The Amarillo Family YMCA-Suddenlink Corporate Cup raises awareness and funds for the local YMCA, as well as promotes physical fitness. Local businesses participate in a four-week corporate fitness challenge that culminates in a day-long competition.  The three-year-old event is now the Amarillo YMCA’s core fundraiser. Last year’s event raised a record-setting $30,500.

Forty-two cable communications and public affairs professionals chose the 2013 Beacon Award finalists during an extensive judging process before final winners were chosen.
