Part of Larger Project That Will Launch 1-Gigabit Internet Service This Summer
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas (May 14, 2015) – Suddenlink is nearing completion of the first major phase of its nearly $250 million “Operation GigaSpeed” national project that will soon make 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) high-speed Internet service available in Bryan-College Station.
As part of that project, Suddenlink is upgrading technology in Bryan-College Station that will facilitate a new, all-digital TV lineup. Digital TV features superior picture and sound quality. Customers will have access to more than 60 new TV channels, including nearly 30 in high definition (HD), on June 9 when the transition is completed.
Depending on the type of service a customer now receives from Suddenlink, customers may need to install HD digital adapters – also known as HD DigitaLinks – which will enable them to receive an all-digital channel lineup. Suddenlink customers have been receiving information about the all-digital transition by mail, email and TV messaging, notifying them of several options for obtaining the new HD DigitaLinks.
Customers will not need HD DigitaLinks for TV sets that already have Suddenlink HD DVRs, HD Digital receivers, TiVo HD DVRs or Suddenlink Cable Cards.
Suddenlink is staging events at various locations around the community to make it easier for people to get new equipment. Customers are being notified about locations near them. Suddenlink will provide two HD DigitaLinks to customers who need them, free of charge for two years. The new HD DigitaLinks feature an easy-to-use digital program guide, access to HD TV channels and parental controls.
