Austin Middle School Celebrates Take a Veteran to School Day
Local Veterans Will Be Honored Thursday at the School
Students and faculty members U.S. Navy Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Nune Perez will honor hometown heroes at a Take a Veteran to School Day program at Amarillo’s Austin Middle School, Monday, Nov. 9. The Take a Veteran to School Day project is part of a national initiative by the History Channel and Suddenlink, which provides cable services in Amarillo. A formal program will be presented at an assembly in the school auditorium, followed by lunch in the gym.

Welcome, introduction of speakers – Vicki Mueller, 8th grade arts teacher and department head
Speaker – U.S. Navy Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Nune Perez
Choral Reading – TBA member of Vicki Mueller’s Pre-AP class
“Armed Forces Tribute,” arranged by Andrew Dabzynski – Orchestra
(Veterans will stand when their branch song is played)
Dance – “Home” by Dierks Bentley
“Freedom Finale,” arranged by Michael Story – dance class students
“Taps,” arranged by Michael Post – band with TBD trumpet soloist
Closing – Austin Middle School Principal Alan Nickson (Austin MS Principal)
Lunch in gym for Veterans and guest
