“Take a Veteran to School”

| October 31, 2016 | |

In recognition of Veterans Day, Texas cable operators are honoring the state’s military veterans and helping them share their stories with Texas schoolchildren as part of cable programmer HISTORY’s annual Take a Veteran to School initiative.

This is the 10th year for Take a Veteran to School, HISTORY’s popular public affairs outreach program that connects veterans with students in schools and communities nationwide. The Texas Cable Association and its member companies have participated each year.

A number of Texas legislators and other elected officials are expected to participate in the programs held on or around Veterans Day. Although each school designs and holds its own specific program connected with Take a Veteran to School, all events honor and feature local veterans who share their stories with the students and, in return, receive a heartfelt “thank you” for their service.

In Texas, Altice USA (now offering Suddenlink services), Cable One and Charter Communications will host Take a Veteran to School programs throughout the state at schools in cities that include Amarillo, Bryan, Cedar Park, Garland, Georgetown, Lubbock, Nacogdoches, Odessa, San Angelo, Seadrift and Tyler.

Follow the Texas Cable Association on Facebook and Twitter for photos and other coverage from the individual events.
