Update: March 2011 - Study: Cable Adds $15.9 Billion, More Than 112,000 Jobs To Texas Economy

In today’s fast-paced world, Texans increasingly rely on the cable industry to meet their information, communication and entertainment needs.  Whether it’s through high-speed Internet, digital local and long distance phone, video services – or a combination – cable is changing the way Texans live and work.The cable industry is meeting – and even anticipating – the needs of  Texans while supporting communities through public service, creating jobs, contributing to local and state economies, and investing private capital in telecommunications and broadband infrastructure.

  • Over 1,000 – Cities & Communities Served
  • 4.2 million – Cable subscribers
  • 2.1 million – High-speed Internet lines
  • 925,000 – Digital phone connections
  • 97,000 – Employees (direct and indirect)
  • More than $10 billion – Capital investment in Texas over the past 10 years
  • More than $1.5 billion – Franchise fees paid to state and local governments over the past 10 years
