The Texas Public Policy Foundation recently issued a report to Texas legislators that highlighted key issues impacting our state. Regarding telecom, the report states that “Texas has been one step ahead of the rest of the country in telecommunications… However, there is still room for improvement. Texas consumers are particularly burdened with high tax rates on telecommunications services….Cable video customers paid an average of $5.90 per month, or 14.33% of an average monthly bill.”

During the interim the Texas cable industry has been working with Texas policymakers to address our state’s burdensome telecom taxes and we look forward to continuing this effort during the legislative session.
