MAYDE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE RECEIVES CABLE INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP
AUSTIN – Landai Nguyen, a 2005 graduate of Mayde Creek High School in Katy and a current student at Baylor University, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Texas Cable & Telecommunications Association (TCTA).
Nguyen just completed her sophomore year at Baylor University in Waco where she is majoring in biology.
She is the daughter of Tam Huynh and Hoang Nguyen of Katy. Hoang Nguyen is a drafter for Comcast in Houston.
State lawmakers who represent Katy applauded Nguyen.
“Landai is great example of what can happen when you work hard and keep your goals in focus. She's an example of how the next generation of Texans is poised to lead this state to greatness”, said state Sen. Kyle Janek (R-Houston).
Said state Rep. William “Bill” Callegari (R-Katy), “I’m always proud to see area students receive scholarships such as this because it means that our sons and daughters will soon be educated leaders within our community.”
While at Mayde Creek High School, Nguyen was involved in the National Honor Society, the Texas Association of Future Educators, and was a teaching assistant for her Sunday school class at the Epiphany of the Lord Church.
“We are pleased to recognize Landai’s accomplishments with this scholarship,” said Dale Laine, president of TCTA. “Landai was an outstanding high school student, and is continuing her academic excellence at Baylor University in Waco. TCTA awarded her this scholarship because we are confident that she will continue to excel in her academic endeavors.”
TCTA (www.txcable.com) is the primary trade organization for cable operators in Texas.
