WEATHERFORD HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE RECEIVES CABLE INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP
AUSTIN – Sarah McMillan, a 2007 graduate of Weatherford High School in Weatherford, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Texas Cable & Telecommunications Association (TCTA).
McMillan will attend Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, where she plans to major in biology.
She is the daughter of Michelle and Donald McMillan of Weatherford. Donald McMillan is a service technician for Time Warner Cable in Arlington.
State lawmakers who represent Weatherford applauded McMillan.
"We are all very proud of this young lady's accomplishments and her contributions to the Weatherford High School. Sarah is a reminder that education and hard work are a path to success," said state Sen. Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls).
Said state Rep. Phil King (R-Weatherford), “We are thrilled that Sarah McMillan has been awarded this scholarship and look forward to seeing her continued success.”
McMillan served as the captain of the Weatherford High School Blue Belle Dance Team, was a committee chair of Health Occupation Students of America, chairperson of the Interact Club and a member of the President’s Club.
“We are pleased to recognize Sarah’s accomplishments with this scholarship,” said Dale Laine, president of TCTA. “Sarah was an outstanding high school student, and TCTA awarded her this scholarship because we are confident that she will continue her academic excellence at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.”
