Austin Middle School Celebrates Take a Veteran to School Day

Local veterans will be honored at a Take a Veteran to School program at Amarillo’s Austin Middle School, Wednesday, Nov. 9. The Take a Veteran to School Day project is part of a national initiative by the History Channel and Suddenlink Communications, which provides cable services in Amarillo.

Student in grades six through eight and faculty members will honor the hometown heroes with an assembly, followed by lunch in the school library.

What: Take a Veteran to School

When: Wednesday, Nov. 9 – 10 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m.

Where: Austin Middle School, 1808 Wimberly Rd

Who: Andrea Morris, Austin Librarian, Army Specialist E4: opening comments, Pledge of Allegiance
-Tascosa High School Navy Junior ROTC: presentation of colors
-Robert M. Marshall, MAJ, USAF: Keynote Speaker; honoring of veterans
-Jill Bradford, Austin Orchestra Director, and Austin Orchestra: musical salute to the armed forces
- Jonathan Williams, Austin student: Taps
