WHAT:      Crime Stoppers and Comcast Partner to Reduce and Prevent Theft

Crime Stoppers, Comcast, and the Harris County Sherriff’s Department are seeking information leading to the identification of multiple suspects involved in thefts of Comcast equipment. Specifically, Comcast “power supply” equipment has been stolen on multiple occasions from multiple locations. Power supply equipment is installed in neighborhoods across the greater Houston area, and transmits power to supporting equipment in thousands of households in our community.

Crime Stoppers and Comcast also announce an increased reward in this case. Any caller whose information results in an arrest and or the filing of felony charges in this case will be eligible for up to $15,000 cash reward.  “This disruption of service, blatant stealing, and lack of public awareness inspired us to offer the supplemental reward,” said Doug Guthrie, Senior Vice President for Comcast’s Houston region.

Any person with information as to the identification of the thieves who are stealing Comcast equipment is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.  Tips can also be sent in via the internet to www.crime-stoppers.org, or by text message. Text TIP610 and your tip information to CRIMES. All tipsters remain anonymous.

Photographs of examples of the stolen equipment are attached. For more information, or to schedule an interview, please call Katherine Cabaniss or Michael Bybee of Comcast. Michael Bybee can be reached at:
