Suddenlink Begins Offering HDTV, VOD, TiVo DVRs in Navasota
Service Enhancements Follow Move to All-Digital TV Lineup

NAVASOTA, Texas (June 28, 2011) – After completing an upgrade to an all-digital TV lineup in Navasota, Suddenlink has begun offering numerous high-definition (HD) TV channels, as well as Video on Demand (VOD) service and TiVo® Premiere DVRs (digital video recorders).

HDTV offers a widescreen format, similar to a movie theater, with distinctly sharper and clearer images and better sound quality than standard TV.  Not all networks or stations offer HD programming.

Twelve “HD Broadcast” tier channels include broadcast stations: KPRC HD (NBC), KIAH HD (CW), KXLN HD (Univision), KRIV HD (FOX), KTMD HD (Telemundo), KUHT HD (PBS), KFTH HD (TeleFutura), KHOU HD (CBS), KTXH HD (MNT), KTRK HD (ABC) KTRK-DT Live Well HD and KPXB HD (ION).

Some 40 HD channels are available on Suddenlink’s “HD Basic” tier of service, which is available free to customers who lease the equipment required to enable HD viewing. Among them are: USA HD, CNN HD, TNT HD, Fox Sports Houston HD, ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD, TLC HD, HGTV HD, Discovery Channel HD, FX HD, TBS HD, AMC HD, ABC Family HD, Disney HD, Cartoon Network HD, Animal Planet HD, Nickelodeon HD, History HD, CMT HD, MTV HD and Outdoor Channel HD.

Suddenlink customers must have an HD television set connected to a Suddenlink HD receiver (or another HD receiver with a Suddenlink cable card) in order to view “HD Basic” channels. Suddenlink’s “HD Broadcast” channels can be viewed without a Suddenlink HD receiver or cable card, if customers have HD televisions sets with a built-in QAM tuner.  Television set manufacturers and/or retailers should be able to verify whether or not an HD set has a built-in QAM tuner.

Navasota Suddenlink customers also will have access to premium channels like HBO, Starz, Showtime and Cinemax in both standard-definition and HD formats. They will also be able to choose a digital package that includes NFL Network HD, Golf Channel HD and ESPNews HD.

Suddenlink also has introduced its Video on Demand (VOD) service and TiVo Premiere DVRs (digital video recorders).

Suddenlink customers with advanced digital TV can now access VOD services by going to Channel 1.

VOD offers thousands of hours of viewing, with many programs in high-definition (HD) format, including movies, sports, news, music and popular cable-network shows.  More than a third of the Suddenlink VOD library is free.  The rest is available for either a per-view charge or monthly subscription.

VOD allows viewers to order titles of their choice via remote-control, at any time, and have access to those titles for an extended period; typically 24 hours.  Viewers can also pause, rewind and fast-forward their choices, much as they do with a VCR (video cassette recorder) or DVR (digital video recorder).

Suddenlink’s VOD library will be regularly updated to make fresh choices available to customers.

The TiVo Premiere DVR combines Suddenlink’s service with TiVo’s best-in-class user interface to offer access to thousands of hours of entertainment choices, including content from Suddenlink’s VOD library and the Web, all accessible through TiVo’s advanced search and discovery features.

Navasota customers with multiple TiVo Premiere DVRs from Suddenlink also can start watching a recorded program in one room and continue it in another, as well as watch recordings on any TV connected to a TiVo Premiere device.  As an example, Suddenlink customers with three TiVo Premiere DVRs can record up to six shows at the same time, watch recordings on any TV, start watching a recorded program in one room, pause, and resume it in another, and have up to 600 hours of recording space.

In addition to integrated search functions, TiVo Premiere offers users remote scheduling, apps for iPhone and iPad, full HD support, and the ability to pause, rewind, and use slow-motion and instant replay functions for live TV.

Suddenlink is the only multichannel TV service provider in the community to offer TiVo Premiere DVRs. To learn more, visit suddenlink.com/tivo/.

Introducing HDTV and VOD is part of the company’s nationwide capital investment program, calling for approximately $350 million over three years, above and beyond Suddenlink’s traditional capital spending levels.

More information about local Suddenlink services is available in one of several ways: by visiting suddenlink.com and entering an address and zip code; or by calling toll-free 866-220-5515.
