May Sports Programming

The “most exciting two minutes in sports” takes place May 7th. The NBC family of cable networks will provide a variety of programming in anticipation of the race, starting at 11am on the NBC Sports Network. Learn more about the history of the Derby here.

The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place on May 29th. Highlights include live ESPN SportsCenter tapings in the plaza beginning at 8 a.m. and an expanded Fan Midway. Players and fans alike are preparing for the second Grand Slam event of 2016 – the French Open – which runs from May 16 through June 5. This event brings the world’s most talented players and passionate fans to the capital of France. For the first time in 13 years, ESPN will not be broadcasting the Open, and matches will air exclusively on the Tennis Channel & NBCSN.

Major League Baseball is in full swing and Roots Sports has all your Houston Astros action as well as Houston Dynamo soccer games:

  • The Astros are busy this month with nine different opponents during May. ROOT SPORTS is carrying 28 of the 29 games. Channel listings can be found here.
