Is your mom more like Donna Reed or Roseanne? TV moms have come in a wide range of styles over the decades. Mother’s Day is a great time to celebrate not only your own mother, but also some of the wonderful mothers found on cable.

How mothers are portrayed on TV has changed over the decades as the role of women in our society has evolved. While 1950s June Cleaver (Leave it to Beaver) cooked and cleaned in pearls and heels, today’s Claire Dunphy (Modern Family) is less concerned about housekeeping perfection as she juggles family and career. Which TV mom is your real-life mom more like? Which TV mom did mothering best? Take a look at the lists below and see if you agree with the picks for top honors. While some of these shows have long been out of production, many can be found airing in reruns on cable.

Here’s TV Guide’s selection for “50 Greatest TV Moms of all Time.”

Last year the Parents Television Council named its picks for the 20 top TV moms of the past 20 years.
