SPECTRUM PROMOTES CABLE VETERAN MICHAEL MATSON TO TEXAS REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT OFFIELD OPERATIONS
DALLAS (May 6, 2021) — Spectrum announced Michael Matson has been promoted to Regional Vice President of Field Operations for the company’s Texas Region, which comprises the company’s cable systems serving millions of customers in North, Central and South Texas. Matson succeeds John Owen, who retired from Charter earlier this month after a decades-long career with Charter and its predecessor companies.
Matson, who will be based in Coppell, previously served as Area Vice President of Field Operations for Western North Carolina, which comprised the company’s cable systems in the Charlotte, Greensboro and Blue Ridge markets in North Carolina.
“Mike’s career is highlighted by his keen focus on strategic organizational performance across all areas of Field Operations,” said Tom Monaghan, Senior Vice President of Field Operations for Charter Communications, which operates the Spectrum brand of broadband, video, mobile and voice services. “His technical and operational experience allows him to diagnose operational gaps, create strategies and develop tactical plans to improve performance. His leadership skills and deep, cross-functional knowledge of Field Operations will help us continue to drive operational excellence for the Texas Region.”
As Regional Vice President of Field Operations, Matson reports to Monaghan and will lead the field operations workforce, including the local technicians who perform installation and service calls in customers’ homes and businesses, as well as maintenance, design and construction of local broadband networks.
Matson began his telecommunications career in 1988 as a technician with Cablevision, supervising and managing field engineering, outside plant and field service for more than a decade in and around Long Island, New York. After holding a series of progressively senior leadership roles at Cablevision and later Time Warner Cable, he became Vice President, Regional Engineering, for the New York City Region following Charter’s merger with Time Warner Cable in 2016. He later served as Area Vice President for Southern Manhattan, where he oversaw daily technical and field engineering operations.
